Chapter VI Life Changes Don’t come Easy
Lily Rose woke early the next morning. Lounging in bed, she thought of Mingyu and Hong Kong. She had thoroughly enjoyed their brief time together, his warm smile and sideways glance still fresh in her mind. Something had changed in her life–a seed had been planted. She envisioned what fun it would be to travel and possibly see him again. Reluctantly unwrapping herself from the confines of a twisted comforter, she swung into action, showering, dressing and leaving for work. Regrettably, there was no milk for cereal when she peered into the fridge. She frowned, making a mental note to pick some up after work. She would have to grab something for breakfast in the hotel.
On the subway, she texted her grandmother. Hi, would love to see you this week end. Do you want to come into the city and stay with me?
The reply came mid-morning.
Hi back!
Come here as I’ve been a little under the weather. Nothing contagious.
I’m working Saturday, but I can come Sunday and Monday. Does that work?
Yes. LMK when you know your arrival time.
The rest of the work week whizzed by. Lily Rose managed to catch up on the usual mundane chores. When she tackled her bills, she realized how much the ring had set her back. She glanced down at her hand and decided it was well worth it. She wore the ring every day and it reminded her of her short time with Mingyu.
